This designation is widely used as a quality benchmark beyond just Miami-Dade. Doors with Miami-Dade NOA are generally considered to meet the most demanding residential hurricane standards available. If you're in a high-wind zone and want the most thoroughly tested option - this is the designation to look for.

Impact-rated vs wind-rated - the difference

Wind-rated doors resist the pressure and structural loading from high-speed wind. They're designed to stay in place and maintain the structural envelope during a hurricane.
